A presentation of the popular science publication “Territory Management. Ancient Kyiv Reserve” was held in Kyiv.
The book was published by the All-Ukrainian Association for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (VAOKS). The project was implemented in partnership with the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA).
This publication reflects modern approaches to preserving cultural heritage in the context of a large city — including Podil, Old Kyiv Hill with its surrounding slopes, and other sites that shape the face of Kyiv. It also highlights solutions that help preserve buildings, environments, the historical atmosphere, and the character of the city, using one of Kyiv’s most remarkable historical areas as an example.
About the book
The book provides a detailed description of the historical and urban environment of the Ancient Kyiv Reserve, which includes Podil, Old Kyiv Hill, Zamkova Hill, Andriyivska Hill, the Kozhumiaky ravine, and other locations. It analyzes the current condition of heritage sites, offers practical recommendations for architects, urban planners, and restorers, and includes a separate section devoted to UNESCO’s international heritage preservation standards.
